The Clayton County Police Department released a statement saying they pulled the rapper over on Friday for an improper lane change, smelled marijuana and discovered three handguns, less than an ounce of marijuana and more than $107,000 of cash on inspection of his vehicle. The rapper was in a 2014 Porsche 911 Carerra at the time, and was pulled over at Upper Riverdale Road and Tara Boulevard.

Offset has been charged with the following: possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and an improper lane change. His bodyguard, Senay Gezahgn, was also arrested for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Offset is currently on bond. His mother attended his arraignment Saturday morning. At the time, the Jail was experiencing a power outage, plunging in complete darkness. Had the power outage not happened, Offset would have been released on Saturday morning. Cardi posted an Instagram story of the rapper showcasing the world that he is back home.

Many outlets suggested that Offset is still serving a five year probation from a 2015 weapon and drug possession. Cardi B took to her Instagram story to deny these allegations, and Offset’s attorney, Drew Findling, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the rapper had his probation terminated early.

Finding also said to Refinery 29 that Offset is currently concerned with Cardi B and his newborn daughter, and also said that they would be fighting against this case. He said, “We are going to pursue this aggressively. This arrest never should have happened.

He spoke to People, saying, “He is concerned, very concerned, about [Cardi B]. Of course his new baby is his top priority as well as his other children.” Findling also added, “He did not commit any traffic offense and he certainly was not in possession of any weapons. This was an improper arrest and I believe in his innocence. [Offset’s] holding up as best he can considering the circumstances and knows he has not broken any laws. He is going to have his day in court.

In a statement to E!, Findling put a racial perspective on the whole situation, “Having been educated on this case in the last 24 hours, he did not commit any traffic offenses besides being a young African-American man in a flashy car wearing nice jewelry. He has a security team that have licenses to possess firearms and he did not physically have any firearms in his possession. We will have to deal with this in court and address these legal issues. I am confident in telling you he is 100 percent innocent.
