Bruno Mars promises to play Bodak Yellow every night on his tour after Cardi B dropped out of the performance line-up due to the responsibilities of motherhood.
Cardi gave birth to daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus with Offset on July 11, and since then has been vocal about the toll of pregnancy and motherhood on her body and energy. The rapper was originally scheduled to appear on the last leg of Mars’ tour. She confirmed this appearance in a video posted to Instagram back in April, where she said that the Broccoli City Festival would be her last scheduled appearance for a while, but that she would be back to take the stage for the 24k Magic tour with Mars. Her appearances were scheduled to begin on September 7.
She explained the reasoning behind her cancellation on Instagram, writing, “As of today I’ve decided I won’t be joining Bruno on tour this fall. I thought that after giving birth to my daughter, that six weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”
She implored for her fans to understand her decision and thanked Mars for his support in her decision, writing, “I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby! Thank you Bruno for being so supportive and understanding.” This announcement comes just days after Cardi’s husband Offset was taken to jail for driving under the influence.
Mars has since then replied to Cardi on his own, writing, “Most important thing is you and your family’s health. I know the fans will understand. You are absolutely doing the right thing. I also know we’ll share the stage when the time is right. We love you Cardi and we will play Bodak Yellow every night in your honor. Please give your baby girl a hug from me and a hug on behalf of everyone on The 24k Magic Tour.” Fans loved Mars’ understanding and lauded him in the comments for his approach of the situation.
Even though he said he would be playing Bodak Yellow every night, Mars has not yet revealed who will replace Cardi B as the performer on the last leg of the 24k Magic tour when it kicks off on September 7.
